The water’s category decides the scope
The restoration industry works to the IICRC S500 standard, which grades water in three categories: clean supply water (1), significantly contaminated “gray” water like appliance discharge (2), and grossly contaminated water like sewage or floodwater (3). The category decides what gets dried in place and what gets removed — the reason two identical wet rooms can carry very different scopes.
